Artist Statement: The division, coloring and ornamental structures of the staggered surfaces should create the impression of a depth dimension and make the construction work. This is based on the idea of a simple mechanical apparatus. Rising and falling shapes within the ornamental bands around a bulky center of disc and wheel should attract the eye like something flashing. Looking at it, a mechanism could be triggered in view, which forces the wheel and lever of the crossing straps into the next position; when the cross is snapped, the scenes would be shifted and brought into a new arrangement.
